I am the Founder of Clinical Connections.  My mission, with Clinical Connections, is to provide a virtual tutoring service to current Physical Therapy students and a virtual mentoring service to new Physical Therapy graduates.  I hope to bridge the gap between classroom learning and clinical experiences by strengthening a student's critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.  By blending clinical and teaching experience, my goal is to guide a student's learning and empower each student or new grad to reach their full potential as clinicians. 

While I have worked in a lot of settings and done a lot of things during my career, my favorite thing has always been working with students.  I absolutely LOVE teaching students the clinical side of things.  I love seeing students connect the dots and to see the light bulbs going off as they start to learn new things and grow as clinicians.

As a PT student had 1 pretty tough Clinical and it left a bad taste in my mouth.  I learned the value of a good CI and the importance of communication with others, but the biggest thing I learned on that Clinical - was what NOT to do with a student.

It makes me cringe to hear students that have had difficult Clinical Experiences or difficult Clinical Instructors.  I believe Clinicals are your chance as a student to apply everything you've learned in the clinic, but that you still have to be taught when you are on your Clinicals.  This is the perfect time to teach you the right way to do things and how to actually engage with "real" patients.  Unfortunately, not all CIs feel this way. 

When this happens (and sadly it does) my hope is that I can be the guiding light for students thrown into these difficult situations.  My hope, in offering this course and this Mentorship, is that I can support and guide those students that were unfortunate enough to end up in a "bad clinical."  Because that is not fair to any student - every student deserves the right to be taught while on their Clinicals.
